Request Account
If you would like to request a Badera family account, please email Andrew Badera an Account Request - be sure to include your full name, city and state of residence, and current email address. Email accounts include other free Google services, like Google Calendar, Calendar event notification to your cell phone, mobile email, personalized Google home page, address book, Google Docs and Spreadsheets, and more.
Email services & privacy
Email is provided courtesy of Google's GMail. Each email account is given 2 gigabytes (2 GB; that's 2048 MB, or megabytes) of space for email and attachments. You can also choose to collect this email through an email client like Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird. These services are provided, hosted and managed by Google -- your privacy is assured, as per Google's GMail Privacy Policy.
Getting Started
If you have already been provided your badera.us temporary password, you can sign in and change your password here: start.badera.us.
Thunderbird - the free, open-source email client. If you want more features than the Google GMail web interface offers, you can use Thunderbird (or Outlook, or another email client) to collect your email via POP.
IE7 - the Microsoft Corporation Windows-standard browser, in its newest incarnation, with tabbed browsing, anti-phishing features and allegedly improved security. Use at your own risk.
flickr
- the "Web 2.0" photo hosting and sharing site. There is a decent free
version, with the option to subscribe to a premium version. I highly
recommend this site for storing and sharing your photos. flickr allows you to store images, organize them as galleries, give them descriptive tags and captions, and decide whether or not to share each image publicly, or keep it private.
YouTube
- the "Web 2.0" video hosting and sharing site -- completely free.
Recommended for storing and sharing your videos. It saves a lot of email storage space, and reduces email receive times, if you host a video on YouTube, and link to it in an email, instead of attaching a video to an email.
FileZilla - another great open-source, completely free application, this is a top-notch FTP (File Transfer Protocol) client with plenty of features and add-ons.

Security Tango - step-by-step instructions on how to clean just about any and all spyware, adware and viruses from your PC. Information put together by RIT Computer Science professor, and Rochester media personality, Nick Francesco.
Kaspersky Anti-Virus - award-winning, industry leading anti-virus software. Updates definitions frequently. 30-day free trial; I believe it's $29.95 for a year's subscription. Great software, but there's also an almost full-featured free version (below). Windows XP, XP x64, Windows Vista.
Active Virus Shield -- AOL has co-branded Kaspersky and gives it away for free under the name "Active Virus Shield." You get the exact same level of protection and features as Kaspersky Anti-Virus (above), but completely free. Windows XP, XP x64. CAUTION: May not work on Windows Vista.
Spybot S&D - Spybot "Search & Destroy" is a 100% free spyware scanning and removal tool.
LavaSoft Ad-Aware Personal SE - Completely free and functional version of LavaSoft's Ad-Aware spyware and aware search/detection and removal tool.
